Penang Pesta Open Dragon Boat Race
Confirming their status as one of Penang’s and Malaysia’s hottest crews, the Pacific West teams made a strong impact during the Penang Pesta Open Dragon Boat Race 2009. For the first time in the competition’s thirty years, the event was held off the coast of the Jelutong Expressway with the Penang Bridge providing a dramatic backdrop.
As one of Malaysia’s premier dragon boat events the level of competitiveness was high and the Pacific West crews were able to overcome their relative inexperience with tremendous enthusiasm and determination!
The PW juniors stole the show with a first place in the Junior Open; PW recorded two second place finishes in the Premier Open (500M) and Premier Mixed (200M) events. PW also posted two third place finishes in the longer course events – the Premier Open (1000M) and National Open (500M). |
