Penang International Dragon Boat Festival

The annual PIDBF event was held at Teluk Bahang Dam from 8 – 10 June 2007. This year the event attracted more than 44 teams from 15 countries. Pacific West was a main sponsor and honoured to be appointed as an official food supplier where we catered to nearly 3,000 rowers, official and guest from various countries.
A range of souvenirs were designed to commemorate the annual PIDBF. An aggressive dragon with Chinese brush effect symbolizing “Charging Forward with Challenges” was created as an icon for this year’s event. Among the best sellers are t-shirts and singlet. The souvenirs prove to be popular items among the rowers and visitors alike.

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, a charity sale was held to sell Pacific West seafood to all the visitors. A total of RM5, 000 was collected throughout the 3 days. A simple ceremony was held to hand-over the proceeds to the Principal of the home, Mrs Nirmala Dewi by the Director of Pacific West, Mr Saw Lip Teik. Besides our active participation in the dragon boat sport, we are glad to play our role to help the underprivileged in-conjunction with annual PIDBF event.

Pacific West dragon boat team was among the strongest in the race. We emerge as champion in the Malaysia Mixed Race 20 and came in 2nd in the Penang International Open Race 20 and Malaysia Open Race 20.
